The Treasure of Cape Cod National Seashore
Take a fascinating journey through Massachusetts Cape Cod National Seashore Park. With miles of glorious sandy beaches white, inspiring and tours, and breathtaking fragile dunes, the park is a remarkable geological wonder thousands of years in the making. Read on and you can visit here …
The Cape Cod National Seashore is a park of 4,308 acres 60 miles south of Boston, Massachusetts. That was overturned by an act of Congress in 1961 to preserve and protect a unique geological area and wild life habitat of New England. Cape Cod was formed when the last of the great glaciers melted about 12,000 years ago leaving a large lake, which eventually drain exposure and deposition of sediment by glaciers from earlier times.
The Nature has remodeled all of Cape Cod, especially the Atlantic off the National Seashore area, and continues to this day. But this is the perfect place to escape. This is the perfect place to experience nature, especially out of season. So let's take a brief Cape Cod vacations trip together. Are you ready?
Nauset BEACH
The first leg of his trip is Nauset Beach in the city of Orleans. This is a stunning beach walk and see the hard work of nature. Storms Atlantic hitter every winter dunes and beach erosion is a big problem here. Protection is the name of the game at Nauset not just for the dunes, but nesting birds in the spring. Always pay attention to erosion and the protection of birds nesting signs anywhere during your trip to Cape Cod
The entrance to Nauset beach is located in East Orleans at the end of Beach Road, where there is ample parking. The lot is approximately 2 miles Routes 6/6a, and during the months of summer, you will have to pay to use it.
EASTHAM National Seashore VISITOR CENTER
National Seashore has two visitor centers. The Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham guide to the park, and provides short films, a museum, and free maps for hiking and cycling routes. The salt pond itself is a heater pond water as the glaciers that once was the sea of fresh water, but has filtered through. Take time to discover the easy walking paths near the pond, and learn about the variety of birds and plants in the area of media.
THE LIGHTHOUSE OF BEACHES
The next two beaches are very popular during the summer and parking fill up quickly. Many people use their bicycles to get to these places – plenty of parking for bikes and the price is right – FREE!
Coast Guard Beach in Eastham can be reached by bicycle from the bike trail from the Salt Lake Visitors Center, or by car from Nauset Road off Route 6 directly after that the Visitors Center. This beach is a favorite of mine walk at low tide, and was the area where Henry Beston wrote The Outermost House. " Unfortunately, 1978 storm washed the house where he lived while writing the book – to sea.
Nauset Light Beach can be reached from Brackett Road also off Route 6. Overlooking the beach, the picturesque red and white Nauset Lighthouse. Originally built in Chatham in the 19th century, moved here shortly after, and moved again in 1996, when erosion of the rock threatened to collapse the lighthouse. This beach is popular for the imposing cliffs and towers.
Island Great Walk in Wellfleet
The rise of Great Island in Wellfleet is a 6-mile hike, so allow at least yourself half a day to explore this wonderful area. Located side of Cape Cod Bay Cape in Wellfleet, drive to the trailhead outside Chequesset Neck Road, and prepare-and the camera – to enjoy the walk.
This is a real nature hike. There is no bar or Coke machine waiting at the end, so take Your Own snacks and drinks. Of all the trails in the National Cape Cod Sea Park, this is perhaps the most remote – and I like that!
National Seashore PROVINCE LANDS VISITOR CENTER
The second centers people in the Sea National Park is located in the Province Lands Route 6 and Race Point Road. This is the northern end of the park, and is the last stop on our brief visit Cape Cod National Seashore.
The Visitor Center has an observation deck where you can see the ocean, the province of forest land and the dunes enormous. Land of the province is replete with beaches, swimming, a bike trail, a walking trail, and a beautiful Race Point lighthouse. Take time to visit this area and enjoy this unique area of the Cape.
Cape Cod National Seashore is one of the Most Popular vacation destinations in New England summer. But in my book is a great place to visit at any time of year. If you're willing to explore and walk around you can discover your own isolated and pristine piece of Cape Cod
