An overview of some common health problems at some Havanese Dog Cuba
The Havanese is the national dog of Cuba. Once it was called Silk dog Havana or the Spanish Silk Poodle mainly because of the layer of raw silk to be as abundant, but very light and soft. In his home country of Cuba the coat never been cut and the hair never tied into a bun. Cubans believe the hair that falls over the eyes of the Havanese protected from harsh sun.
The Havanese was brought to Europe in the 18th century, where she found favor with the courts of Spain, France and England. A mid-eighteenth century by Queen Victoria owned two Bichon Habanero and Charles Dickens had one. In Cuba, during this same period, habanero became the family dog, playmate of children, a watchdog and pastor of the flock of poultry in the family.
Only a handful of Havanese found its way to the United States after the Cuban revolution. All the Havanese in the world today, except those of the Iron Curtain countries and those remaining in Cuba come from the 11 immigrants Havanese. Type Bichon Habanero has remained almost unchanged from that of the dogs painted in the 18th century.
The health problems of the Havanese
Cataracts can develop in the habanero sooner or later. They can cause blindness or be slow in growth and not progress to blindness. To date, all early onset, blinding cataracts have been found in Havanese with chondrodysplasia.
Surgical correction of cataracts (removal) is best done before they ripen. For this reason, Annual CERF exams are recommended for the Havanese.
Chondrosysplasia orthopedic disorders are literally as "defective cartilage. "It can be manifested in a variety of ways:
• For the premature closure of growth plates of long bones either symmetrically or asymmetrically, which can result in the legs of shorts (dwarfism0 that are straight or bent on a unilateral or bilateral.

Treatment of the LCP is the removal of the femoral head and neck of the femur on the affected side.
The incidence of hip dysplasia in Havanese are not known for the small number of dogs which have been verified.
There seems to be a significant number of heart murmurs appears in the Havanese breed. The treatment of heart problems may include medications, diet and / or surgery.
Deafness has been found in the Havanese breed. Deafness can be diagnosed in puppies Bichon Habanero young as 5 weeks of age by use of BAER testing. The incidence in Havanese is not known as the test has not been widespread or consistent.
Other conditions with lower incidences are in Havanese include, but are not limited to, seizures, renal dysplasia, hypothyroidism and skin problems, including sebaceous adenitis.
All these problems can be examined in breeding dogs. Although there is no guarantee that health problems do not arise, well, reputable breeders can certainly tilt the odds in their favor by their culture detection dogs for health problems in order to make reproductive decisions intelligent.
