Has anyone heard of FLOR painting? As a sponge, but with flowers?
I wonder how I go about doing this (if I could), and what be the best type of flower to use. Should I use fake flowers or what? Is this familiar to anyone?
Faux finishing is something I do very much and enjoy. Flower petals, no matter the species, are fragile and it is likely that RIP / tear / shred, in the process of using paint. Fresh flowers would be weak / Limp, even with acrylic or water colors. Residue dried flowers could cause even more in the paint. To achieve a similar effect can be tested with the feathers. No offense but what possible purpose could be served by the use FAKE? You can use a fan brush or your fingers. The good news is that faux finishing is an experience that allows any / all as a tool. Certainly there are exceptions that do not work and will be missed. There is an artist of imitation, but I knew a guy in Seattle that tables created with his fingerprints, and other large pieces made with paint rollers on brown craft paper. Then there is the question of what you want to paint (design) Your choices could be endless in finding things to use as a rag roll instruments, pens, steel wool, a team of old socks, a toothbrush staff, make spot effect, splashing; marbelizing. anything that has a texture, and leaves a texture anything …. or to release and hold paint, so that the contents of the tool becomes apparent, but subtle. The enjoyment is in the process, and the results encouraging, but all … even for the Masters, it is often trial and error and research and development. Do not use flowers.
